Make a backup of the Windows 95 registry
1) Choose the Windows 'Start' button to display the 'Start' menu.
2) Select 'Run...'. (The Run dialog box appears.)
3) Enter REGEDIT in the 'Open' box.
4) Choose 'OK'. (The Registry Editor opens.)
5) Do one of the following:
a) To export the entire Registry:
1] Select the 'Registry' menu and select Export Registry File...'. (The Export Registry File dialog box appears.)
2] Select the 'All' radio button in the 'Export Range' section.
b) To export only a section:
1] Select the branch to be exported.
2] Select the 'Registry' menu and select 'Export Registry File...'. (The Export Registry File dialog box appears.)
3] Select the 'Selected Branch' radio button in the 'Export Range' section. (The branch name selected in step 5)b)1] appears in the Selected Branch box.)
6) Enter a name for the exported file in the 'File name' box.
7) Choose the 'Save' button. (The registry or section of registry is exported.)
NOTE: The exported file can be edited using a text editor.
8) To restore the Registry just exported:
a) Select the 'Registry' menu and select 'Import Registry File...'. (The Import Registry File dialog box appears.)
b) Select the folder from the 'Look in' list.
c) Enter the filename for the registry in the 'File name' box.
d) Choose the 'Open' button.
